CASRA researchers have recently published a study in the International Journal of Industrial Ergonomics comparing remote cabin baggage screening (RCBS) with traditional lane-based local cabin baggage screening (LCBS). The findings show that RCBS leads to higher detection rates of prohibited items but also longer processing times. In both conditions, detection performance declined over time on task, with a stronger decrease under high task load. The full paper is available here.
