X-Ray Screening at Prison Access Controls
Prison access controls worldwide are supported by X-ray screening equipment to detect specific prohibited items. However, security controls in prisons are looking for different objects than e.g. security controls at airports. In prisons, visitors are not allowed to carry smartphones, cameras, MP3-players, data storage devices, or pharmaceuticals like aspirin.
CASRA has cooperated with experts and end-users in order to create a specific, effective and efficient computer-based training (CBT) tailored to prison security screening. The X-Ray Tutor 4 Prison includes prison specific threats and bags in order to enhance the image interpretation competency of prison X-ray screeners.
Example Use Case: Pöschwies Prison
A tailored computer-based training for X-ray image interpretation competency at Switzerland’s largest prison, Pöschwies Prison, was created in 2007. To further enhance the quality of the image libraries of X-Ray Tutor 3 Prison, a survey was later conducted at several Swiss prisons. This led to a further improvement of the image quality and selection of threat objects used in the training.
